Meet the makers of Realign denim

‘Denim’ and ‘Japan’ are often mentioned in the same breath, and this isn’t a coincidence. Japan adopted denim decades ago and elevated the fabric to a quality the world had never seen before. In Okayama prefecture—specifically Kojima—more brands, mills and denim stores are concentrated than anywhere else in Japan. We chose to manufacture here before we had even thought of the brand name. Japanese denim is unmatched in quality, craftsmanship and authenticity: core principles of Realign.

Japan Blue Company

The Kojima-based Japan Blue Company was established in 1992 as a fabric mill and became one of the leaders of Japanese denim. Over the years it grew from fabric supplier into a denim powerhouse, mastering the processes throughout the denim supply chain.

We entrusted our manufacturing to Japan Blue because they share our vision of craftsmanship and authenticity. Realign jeans are made in small batches and cut and sewn by experienced craftspeople who have worked with denim for decades.

Collect Mills Japanese selvedge denim

Collect Mills

Collect Mills is the fabric division of Japan Blue and began weaving denim in 1992. The mill has steadily grown into one of Japan’s major selvedge denim mills, supplying some of the world’s most respected denim brands while retaining its passion for pure, authentic selvedge denim.

Its extensive collection spans different casts, colours, origins, weights and weaves. Working with Collect Mills gives Realign access to authentic, irregular and slubby Japanese selvedge denim of exceptional quality.

We couldn’t be more proud to make our jeans in Kojima, Japan.
